Flowing Like Summer: Moving from Stuck to Radiant 🌻✨

Have you ever noticed how summer afternoons have their own gentle rhythm? Leaves dancing in warm breezes, bees buzzing contentedly from bloom to bloom, the soft chirping of birds settling into afternoon shade, everything moving with purpose yet without effort.
As I sit here writing this, I'm reminded of my own journey from feeling completely stuck to finding flow again. Living with chronic Lyme disease taught me that sometimes our greatest stuckness isn't about external circumstances - it's about fighting the current instead of learning to move with it.
When Life Loses Its Natural Rhythm ⏰
So many of my clients come to me feeling stuck - in relationships, careers, health challenges, or simply in their own energy. They describe feeling like they can't get out of their own way and nothing is changing for the better even though they have lots of ideas about how it should. It's exhausting trying to force movement that just won't come.
"I feel like I can't get out of this cycle. I know I need to make changes, but every time I try, I hit the same barriers."
Sound familiar? That stuck feeling often shows up as:
• Constant mental chatter with no clear direction
• Physical tension that won't release
• Overwhelming to-do lists that never get shorter
• A sense that everyone else is moving forward while you're frozen
But here's what I've learned: being stuck isn't a character flaw or a permanent state. It's often our soul's way of saying "pause, there's something here you need to see."
Summer's Lesson in Natural Flow 🌊☀️
Nature doesn't force growth - it flows with the seasons. Summer teaches us about expansion, warmth, and allowing our natural radiance to shine. Think about how plants grow toward the light without struggling or questioning their worthiness to bloom.
This summer, I've been watching the plants and flowers outside my kitchen window. The hydrangeas don't worry about whether they're tall enough or facing the right direction. They simply follow their inner knowing toward the sun. Summer breezes don't fight against the trees - they dance through the branches, creating gentle movement and rustling melodies along the way.
What if we could approach our stuck places with that same natural intelligence?
Here are three gentle ways to cultivate that same flowing wisdom in your own life.
Release the Push, Embrace the Pull 💫
When we're stuck, our first instinct is often to push ourselves harder. But summer energy is about being pulled toward things that light us up versus pushing away from what we don't want.
Try this gentle practice: Place your hand on your heart and ask, "What would feel expansive right now?" Not productive, not responsible - expansive. Notice what comes up without judgment.
This simple practice led me towards learning to eat healthier and lose 10 pounds of post menopausal belly fat! All in the midst of caring for my mom during her cancer treatments. Following that gentle pull became part of my healing journey during a stressful time. I came out feeling empowered!
Create Sacred Pauses
Summer afternoons have natural pauses - quiet moments where everything seems peacefully still yet humming with life. We need these sacred pauses too.
In our culture of the mad rush, we often interpret stillness as stuckness or laziness. But there's wisdom in allowing ourselves to gather energy, to deepen our understanding, before moving forward.
Simple Sacred Pause Practice:
• Find 5-10 minutes in your day to sit quietly and breathe naturally. Preferably in a comfortable and comforting space. Close your eyes if you like
• Ask yourself: "What wants to emerge in my life right now?" "What will bring me joy or peace?"
• Listen without trying to fix or plan
• Trust what you hear, even if it doesn't make sense or seem logical – yet.
Maybe it's learning to make yummy gluten free baked goods, or learning Improv, getting a roommate, starting that book you've been putting off for years or joining a meetup group to make new friends.
Follow Your Energy, Not Your Schedule
Summer light lingers long into the evening, teaching us that energy has its own natural rhythms. When we're stuck, we're often fighting our authentic energy patterns.
I learned this the hard way when chronic illness forced me to honor my body's rhythms rather than society's expectations. Some days my energy is vibrant, other days it's slow and inward. Both are valuable. Both have gifts.
Notice: When does your energy naturally feel most flowing? What activities, people, or environments help you feel most like yourself? Can you honor these natural rhythms more often vs fighting them?
Moving from Stuck to Radiant
The beautiful thing about finding flow is that it's not about becoming someone different - it's about returning to who you naturally are. Like those summer afternoons, you already have your own natural rhythm and flow. You already have the inner wisdom to find your way.
Sometimes all it takes is remembering that being stuck is temporary, that you have permission to move at your own pace, and that your natural radiance is always there waiting to shine through.
As we move through these late summer days, I invite you to notice where you might be pushing against your own current. What would it feel like to stop fighting the flow and start dancing with it instead?
Your radiance isn't something you need to create or earn - it's something you need to remember and allow.
A Personal Note
This month, my mom rang the bell to celebrate finishing her cancer treatments. Watching her navigate this challenging journey of stage 4 cancer taught me even more about flow versus force. She found her way through by honoring what felt right day by day, hour by hour and sometimes moment by moment. Some days that meant lots of rest, some days that meant a stroll in the back yard, some days that meant crying, and some days that meant planning on the cake she will eat on her 90th birthday at the end of the month.
She moved like a summer breeze around every obstacle - gentle but persistent, always finding her way, always trusting the process even when she couldn't see the path clearly.
If you're feeling stuck right now, know that this too is part of your flow. Trust your inner wisdom. Follow what feels expansive. Create sacred pauses.
Your summer radiance is already here, waiting for you to allow it to shine.
